What is FFA

FFA is a dynamic youth organization within agricultural education that changes lives and prepares students for personal growth, premier leadership, and career success. Participation in FFA allows students to develop life skills that are critical to future success such as leadership, teamwork, and public speaking. FFA members also benefit from competitions and award programs which connect classroom and laboratory instruction to real life applications.

What is an SAE

Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) give students a well-rounded view of career opportunities by exposing members to real-world, hands-on agricultural experiences conducted outside of the classroom.

An SAE is a work experience that is created and carried out by the student. SAEs range from growing plants and raising livestock to actual employment in an agricultural business or an entrepreneurial project. The objectives of SAE programs are to provide planned, goal-oriented, and practical activities that help students develop the skills needed to be successful in the workplace and in life.

What is a CDE

For students who ask their teachers "When will I ever use this in the real world?" Career Development Events (CDEs) are the answer. Since 1928, FFA has worked to create CDEs that demonstrate the meaningful connections between classroom instruction and real-life scenarios.

CDEs are designed to help prepare students for careers in agriculture. Classroom instruction comes alive as students demonstrate their skills in a competitive setting. CDEs test the abilities of individuals and teams in 23 major areas of agricultural instruction.
